Change Your Life

“I want to change my life!” The first thoughts that come to mind are big life shifts involving your health, habits or relationships. These changes largely feel impossible (especially after repeated failures) but even small adjustments are really tough.

So why do you want to change your life? Have you struggled to rewrite your story? Do you know you’re on the wrong track but can’t steer away from it? Most of us have arrived at this same point in our lives—even major figures in the Bible. The Apostle Paul said, “I don’t really understand myself, for I want to do what is right, but I don’t do it. Instead, I do what I hate” (Romans 7:15).

Change Your Life

Does this mean you can’t change? Absolutely not, but you’ll need some help and God may already be at work. Could He be leading you to make a change? The first step is to understand God wants your life to be better. He doesn’t want you stuck in failure or trapped in sin.

God’s plan for you is always the best plan. The Bible says, “God’s way is perfect. All the Lord’s promises prove true” (Psalm 18:30). He loves you and this is why He wants what is best for you.

Change Your Destiny

There’s something much larger at stake though because the Bible reminds us life is short. “Your life is like the morning fog—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone” (James 4:14).

God can change your life for the better, but that’s just the beginning. If you seek Him and His will for your life, He can change your destiny. Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, those who listen to my message and believe in God who sent me have eternal life. They will never be condemned for their sins, but they have already passed from death into life” (John 5:24).

God wishes to bring you closer to Him in your daily life but His ultimate plan is focused on your destiny. Do you know your destiny? Will you spend eternity in heaven or hell? God wants to free you from your sin and live forever with you in heaven.

Are you ready to let God change your life and your ultimate destiny?

Step 1 – God’s Purpose: Peace and Life

God loves you and wants you to experience peace and eternal life—abundant and eternal.

The Bible says:

"We have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ."
Romans 5:1

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life."
John 3:16

"I [Jesus] came that they may have life and have it abundantly."
John 10:10

Why don’t most people have this peace and abundant life that God planned for us to have?

Step 2 – The Problem: Sin Separates Us

God created us in His own image to have an abundant life. He did not make us as robots to automatically love and obey Him. God gave us a will and freedom of choice. We choose to disobey God and go our own willful way. We still make this choice today. This results in separation from God.

The Bible says:

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
Romans 3:23

"For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Romans 6:23

Our choice results in separation from God. People have tried in many ways to bridge this gap between themselves and God...

The Bible says:

"There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death."
Proverbs 14:12

"But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear."
Isaiah 59:2

No bridge reaches God... except one.

Step 3 – God’s Remedy: The Cross

Jesus Christ died on the cross and rose from the grave. He paid the penalty for our sin and bridged the gap between God and people.

The Bible says:

"For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus."
1 Timothy 2:5

"For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that He might bring us to God."
1 Peter 3:18

"But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
Romans 5:8

God has provided the only way... Each person must make a choice...

Step 4 – Our Response: Receive Christ

We must trust Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and receive Him by personal invitation.

The Bible says:

"Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with Me."
Revelation 3:20

"But to all who did receive Him, who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God."
John 1:12

"If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."
Romans 10:9

Will you receive Jesus Christ right now?

Here is how you can receive Christ:

We suggest a prayer like this one:

"Dear God, I know I am a sinner. I want to turn from my sins, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus Christ is Your Son. I believe He died for my sins and that You raised Him to life. I want Him to come into my heart and to take control of my life. I want to trust Jesus as my Savior and follow Him as my Lord from this day forward. In Jesus' Name, amen."
